Whenever people on here complain that dA isn't what it used to be, that they're not being recognised, feel that they're lost in an ocean of others, or think that dA is just shit because nobody looks and comments on their work, I laugh to myself and smile.
What these people are forgetting is that for the community to give to them, they must first give to the community.
My 1-step solution, for these people, is this:
1. Get back into the community!
This can be further broken down in to components..:
1a. Comment. Not "comment to get comments", but "comment to get back into the community spirit".
Futher still:
1a.i. Visit random deviations, explore artwork that you haven't purposely chosen to look at (thus getting outside a comfort zone of the artwork one is used to) and
1a.ii. Visit random deviants, leave a message on their page spreading some community love, check out their gallery.
These steps may in time lead to you receiving more comments and whatnot, but the main thing to keep in mind is not "I'm only doing this so I can get more pageviews!" because then you are doing it for the wrong reasons and with the wrong motivation. You have to do it with an open mind, a smile, and a good spirit. Who knows, you'll see stuff you really like, you'll see stuff that you can leave constructive criticism on and help that person grow. You'll get back in to the community and it will be awesome, for all concerned.
Trust me, it works. You just need to give it a try
Going to random deviants and deviations is as simple as opening up My Message Centre and on the sidebar is a section saying My Account, where you'll find links to the randoms.
To help this revolution, I've made a few stamps and will try to explain how to link in your journal.
Type or Copy:
< a href="http://www. deviantart. com/random/deviation" >< img src="http://i22. photobucket.com/ albums/b312/gclifford87/R-hearts-deviation.png" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"></ A></ A>
Take out all the spaces except the ones between a and href, and img and src (so it's a href= and img src=), and leave a space before alt and all of the alt part needs to be left as it is.
This will give you:

Type or Copy:
< a href="http://www. deviantart. com/random/deviation" >< img src ="http://i22. photobucket.com /albums/b312/gclifford87/R-green-deviation.png" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"></ A></ A>
Again, note the spaces.
This will give you:

Type or Copy:
< a href="http://www. deviantart. com/random/deviation" >< B>Visit a Random Deviation!</ B></ A>
Take out all the spaces except the ones between a and href, so it's a href=.
This will give you:
Visit a Random Deviation!

Take out all the spaces except the ones between a and href, so it's a href=.
This will give you:
Visit a Random Deviant!
Bloody hell, that was long. I hope it was understandable enough. Please, put these in your journal to spread the word, and then exercise the links to their full potential! We need more commenting and community love around here, people. And it's up to each and every one of us to do our bit.
with love and hope.

I stalk ~Phantasmicbunny
please check out *theunknownartists & ~DeviantAdoption!
it won't cost any from us to do this to an unknown artist,
but it will cost a lot from Art history if we let the unknown.
